50/50 Is Not Covenant—100/100 Is

Scripture:

“So that they are no longer two, but one flesh.”

—Matthew 19:6 (CJB)

Reflection:

If a relationship is 50/50, you’re already losing. A God-centered relationship is not about dividing effort; it’s about both giving 100%. There will be seasons when your spouse only has 10% to give—and in those moments, you carry the other 90%. And when you are weak, they carry you. That is what it means to walk in unity, always moving forward as one, not as two competing halves.

This is covenant, not contract. It’s sacrifice, not score-keeping. Love doesn’t ask, “What am I getting?”—it asks, “How can I serve?”

Encouragement:

During our 21 days of prayer and fasting, my wife and I chose to fast from sex—not to create distance, but to deepen intimacy. Something powerful happens when affection is given with no agenda. Love is received more fully when it’s not tied to expectation. That kind of love builds trust, safety, and unity—it reflects the heart of Christ.

“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will be fulfilling the Torah’s true meaning, which the Messiah upholds.”

—Galatians 6:2 (CJB)

True love gives freely, serves faithfully, and stays committed—even when it costs.
