A Faith Worth Passing On

July 3, 2025, 8:45 AM

“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise.”

— Deuteronomy 6:7 (ESV)

“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

— Ephesians 5:14 (ESV)

Some of us were blessed to have parents or grandparents who lived their faith in a way that stuck with us. Whether it was praying out loud, opening the Word, or simply how they carried themselves through life’s storms, their example planted seeds. They were living out Deuteronomy 6—teaching diligently, day in and day out, not always with sermons but with surrendered lives.

And now, it’s our turn.

God calls us to continue the legacy—not just through words, but through how we walk with Christ daily. Faith isn’t just something we pass down like a family heirloom—it must be lived out, seen, and awakened in every generation.

That’s why Paul reminds us in Ephesians to wake up. Not just for our own sake, but for the sake of those watching us. There are family members, children, coworkers, and friends who need to see the light of Christ shining through us—so they, too, can awaken to His love and truth.

Reflection:

Who are you discipling—intentionally or unintentionally—through your example? Is your life lighting the way for the next generation to know Christ personally?

Let’s be faithful not only to remember what was poured into us, but to pour it forward with purpose, love, and passion for God’s glory.
