Act or React?

Act or React?

Do you act, or do you react?

Every day, God places people in our path — a coworker, a friend, a stranger — and sometimes they’re smiling on the outside while breaking inside. The Spirit nudges us: say something, reach out, pray for them. But too often, we brush it off. Maybe we’re busy. Maybe we’re unsure what to say. And then, later, when the truth comes out, we whisper, “I should’ve said something.”

There are two kinds of people in these moments — those who act, and those who react. Those who act don’t wait for a cry for help; they listen with their heart. They’re not perfect — just willing. They see the signs and move in compassion. They’re the ones God uses to remind someone, “You’re not alone.”

Then there are those who react — who realize too late that their silence might have been the loudest sound someone heard that day.

Let’s be people who act. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus in real time, not in hindsight. “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” — James 4:17 (CJB)

So today, look a little closer. Pay attention. If the Spirit says “go,” act. You might just save a life — or at least remind someone that they matter to God.
