Good morning.
Today’s Thought of the Day comes from Matthew 5:16 (NKJV):
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
People are changed more through example than through force, and more through action than through discussion.
Over the past week, my wife, my brother in Christ Garon, his wife Stephanie, and I have had a group text where we’ve shared something we’re thankful for every single day.
At first, it’s easy. You thank God for your family, your health, your job, and your salvation. But after a few days, the obvious answers are gone.
Then something beautiful begins to happen.
You slow down.
You start paying attention.
You begin noticing the little blessings that normally pass you by. Gratitude stops being something you simply say and becomes something you truly live.
This morning, my wife shared something that really touched my heart. She said she wasn’t just thankful for all of us—she was thankful for this process. She admitted that expressing her feelings and emotions openly has never come naturally to her. Whether it’s personality, upbringing, or something else, it’s always been difficult.
But then she said something that really stood out.
She said she’s doing it because she sees us doing it.
By watching us consistently express gratitude, she has found the courage to step outside of her comfort zone and do the same.
That reminded me of an important truth:
People are always watching.
Whether we realize it or not, our lives are influencing someone.
Our children are watching.
Our spouses are watching.
Our friends, coworkers, and neighbors are watching.
People may hear what we say, but they believe what we do.
Jesus didn’t say people would be changed by our arguments. He said they would see our lives and glorify our Father in heaven.
Paul echoed this same principle in 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NKJV):
“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”
Our goal isn’t to be perfect.
Our goal is to faithfully follow Christ so others can see Him through us.
When our words and our actions don’t align, people notice.
But when we consistently walk in love… choose gratitude… extend grace… forgive quickly… serve others… and remain faithful in the ordinary moments of life… we give people a glimpse of who Jesus truly is.
Sometimes the greatest sermon you’ll ever preach is the one you’ll never say out loud.
So today, ask yourself:
If someone followed me around this week, would my life point them closer to Christ?
Be intentional today.
Someone is watching.
And your example may be the very thing God uses to change a life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that our lives are a testimony of our faith. Help us to live in a way that reflects the love, humility, and grace of Jesus. Let our actions match our words, and may our example encourage others to draw closer to You. Teach us to live with gratitude, integrity, and compassion so that when people see us, they see Christ living within us. Use our everyday faithfulness to impact lives in ways we may never fully realize. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
