Check Your Instruments

Scripture:

“Focus your minds on the things above, not on things here on earth.”

— Colossians 3:2 (CJB)

Reflection:

Last night, sitting by the campfire with my brothers, we started talking about aviation — about how pilots sometimes experience what’s called spatial disorientation. It’s when their senses betray them. They feel like the plane is spinning out of control even though it’s actually flying perfectly level. When they trust what they feel instead of what the instruments say, panic sets in… and sometimes, that’s when disaster strikes.

Spiritually, the same thing can happen to us.

The world around us can twist our perception — make us feel unworthy, off course, or like we’ve lost our calling. The enemy loves confusion. He whispers, “You’re not who God says you are.” But when you start believing those lies, you end up making rash moves that throw you off the path God already set straight.

When I started doubting my calling as a pastor, it wasn’t because God changed His plan — it was because I let the world cloud my view. That’s when I realized: I needed to stop trusting my feelings and start trusting my instruments.

The Word of God is your instrument panel.

The Holy Spirit is your guide.

Christ is your compass.

When you feel like you’re spinning, don’t react to the storm — read your instruments. They’ll remind you that you’re still flying level, and your Captain is still in control.

Encouragement:

Don’t let the turbulence of this world make you forget who you are and whose you are.

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus — He will always guide you home.

“Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding.”

— Proverbs 3:5 (CJB)
