Conforming to This World

Conforming to This World

Romans 12:2 (CJB) tells us, “Do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of the ‘olam hazeh [this world]. Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds; so that you will know what God wants and will agree that what he wants is good, satisfying and able to succeed.”

When many of us first begin our walk with Christ, we hesitate to change. We think, “I still want to be me. I still want to have fun.” And yes, you can still have joy and laughter—but the definition of fun begins to change. It takes on a godly meaning.

The danger comes when we start to blend in with the world. We act foolish just to fit in. We excuse ourselves by saying, “I’m just having a good time, making sure everyone else is having fun too.” But the truth is, that’s conforming. That’s choosing their approval over God’s approval.

You can’t have one foot in the world and one foot in Christ. You’re either all in or all out. Being in Christ means living differently—righteously. It means loving others enough to correct and guide, not joining in foolishness to be accepted.

So the real question today is this: Are you conforming, or are you transforming?

Are you halfway in, or are you fully surrendered?

Because in the end—you can’t live both ways.

Very good!! Sin is fun for a season but the joy found in the Lord is eternal! After justification we are called to sanctification. We are instructed to put off our old self because we are a new creation in Christ.
