“Do You Need to Defend Yourself?”

“Do You Need to Defend Yourself?”

So many times, I’ve found myself in situations where I feel the urge to defend my name, my actions, or even my faith. But lately, God has been reminding me—I don’t always need to defend myself.

People will talk. They’ll misunderstand your motives or even attack your character. But if you’re walking in God’s will and living according to His Word, then He will be your defender.

When Jesus was accused, mocked, and beaten, He didn’t defend Himself. He could have called down legions of angels, but instead, He remained silent—because He knew the Father’s purpose was greater than the opinions of men.

If I’m walking in obedience and truth, then I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. My actions, my peace, and my fruit will speak louder than my defense ever could.

So if you find yourself asking, “Why didn’t they stand up for me?” or “Why didn’t God stop them from saying that?”—remember this: maybe God isn’t calling you to defend yourself, but to trust Him to handle it His way.

Let your focus be on living rightly, not on being right. God sees. God knows. And God defends those who walk in truth.

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
