Don’t Let Necessity Be the Only Reason You Seek God
Scripture:
“We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19 (CJB)
Reflection:
Sometimes our deepest pursuit of God begins in moments of necessity. We cry out when life hurts, when we need answers, healing, direction, peace, or rescue. And God, in His mercy, meets us there. He listens. He comforts. He answers. He moves.
But somewhere along the way, if we are not careful, we can begin to slowly step back once the storm settles. We start filling our time with the world again instead of continuing to pursue the One who carried us through it.
The truth is, seeking God was never meant to only be an emergency response. Yes, necessity may bring us to His feet, but love is what keeps us there.
When we truly understand what Christ did for us on the cross — the sacrifice, the grace, the mercy, and the prayers He continues to answer — our relationship with Him begins to change. We no longer seek Him only because we need something; we seek Him because we love Him.
There are moments of necessity, but there must also be moments of praise.
Even Jesus rested, but His rest was never separation from the Father. Resting is not the same as stepping away from God. True rest is found in remaining close to Him.
Don’t let answered prayers become the reason you drift. Let them become the reason you worship even more.
Encouragement:
If God carried you through the hard season, don’t stop walking with Him in the peaceful one. Stay close. Keep praying. Keep seeking. Keep loving Him not only for what He does, but for who He is.
