I was blessed with the time I had in Cabo, even though I arrived a day late due to circumstances beyond my control. And while I was offered an extra day to make up for the one I missed, I realized something deeply convicting: Just because I lost a day doesn’t mean I’m owed another—especially at the expense of someone else.
I had already made a commitment to lead my brothers in the Waymaker Tribe on Monday. If I had chosen to stay the extra day in Cabo, I would’ve been taking away from men who didn’t take anything from me. That’s not how God calls us to serve.
This world teaches us to “take back what’s ours.” But Christ teaches us to lay down what’s “ours” for the good of others (John 15:13). My missed day in Cabo was my loss, not theirs to repay. And honoring my commitments—putting others first—is the better blessing.
It reminded me of Proverbs 20:5:
“The heart’s real intentions are like deep water; but a person with discernment draws them out.”
— Mishlei (Proverbs) 20:5 CJB
God showed me that selfishness can be disguised as justice—but wisdom and discernment reveal the truth.
So today, I encourage you:
- Don’t rob those who didn’t rob you.
- Don’t repay loss with more loss.
- Instead, honor your commitments, serve others, and let the blessings flow from your obedience.
