God Uses Imperfect People

God Uses Imperfect People

Scripture:

“Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials; because you know that the testing of your trust produces perseverance.”

— James 1:2–3 (CJB)

“And we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it will be evident that such overwhelming power comes from God and not from us.”

— 2 Corinthians 4:7 (CJB)

Reflection:

This morning, during prayer, I thanked God for something simple but overwhelming:

That He still uses me.

Even though I mess up.

Even though I fall short.

Even though I still wrestle with sin.

And it hit me — how many people sit quietly believing:

“God can’t use me.”

“I’ve done too much.”

“I’m too broken.”

But every single one of us falls short. Every one of us has a past. Every one of us has made mistakes we wish we could undo.

Yet God does not use perfect vessels.

He uses clay jars.

He uses men and women who have been through trials. Who have failed. Who have survived storms by His grace. Because those scars? Those failures? Those valleys?

They become bridges.

The very things you’re ashamed of may be the very things that allow you to reach someone else who feels trapped in the same darkness.

James tells us to be joyful in trials — not because they’re fun, but because they build us. They shape us. They refine us.

Nothing is wasted in God’s hands.

Not your mistakes.

Not your struggles.

Not your past.

Encouragement:

If you’re sitting there thinking God could never use someone like you — that is a lie.

He uses people who know what it feels like to fall.

He uses people who understand pain.

He uses people who have walked through fire and come out still standing by His mercy.

Look for the opportunity today.

Be His hands and feet. Help someone through something you’ve already survived.

You know what it feels like.

And that’s exactly why He can use you.
