Guarding God’s Space

Every day we are faced with a choice—what will we fill our hearts, minds, and time with? Too often, distractions like social media, entertainment, or even work creep in and slowly take the space meant for God. It may not seem dangerous at first, but little by little, that space becomes ground given to the enemy.

When we trade time with God for scrolling, noise, or chasing things that don’t last, we are surrendering what belongs to Him. Scripture reminds us to “take every thought captive.” That means guarding our gates—our eyes, our ears, our hearts—so that what enters aligns with God’s truth. Because what we allow in is what will shape our thoughts, our attitudes, and eventually our actions.

The world normalizes things today that once were unthinkable, and if we’re not careful, those things will fill our minds and dull our spirits. But the good news is this: we can reclaim that space. We can choose to put Him first, to give our attention and affection to the One who deserves it.

So today, ask yourself: What are you filling your space with—God or the enemy?
