Jesus First
Scripture:
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33 (CJB)
Reflection:
Many people hear “put Jesus first” and assume it means caring less about family, friends, or other relationships. The opposite is true. Jesus never calls us to love others less; He calls us to love Him most so we can love others best.
When Christ is the foundation of our lives, our relationships become healthier, stronger, and more meaningful. He becomes the anchor that keeps us steady during life’s storms, the guide that teaches us how to love, and the source of the grace we need when relationships become difficult.
A house built on a solid foundation can withstand the wind and rain. In the same way, relationships built on Christ can endure trials, disagreements, and hardships because they are rooted in something greater than human feelings alone.
Putting Jesus first isn’t about pushing others away—it’s about allowing Him to shape how we love, serve, forgive, and encourage those He has placed in our lives.
Encouragement:
Today, don’t view Jesus as a competitor for your relationships. View Him as the anchor that strengthens them. The closer you grow to Christ, the more capable you become of loving others the way He loves you.
