Sometimes, we just need to stop.
No distractions. No agenda. No noise—except maybe the cicadas humming in the summer heat.
As I sat in my backyard tonight, I noticed something: no wind, no movement, just stillness. Just warm, thick silence wrapped in God’s creation. And in that moment, I realized… these moments are numbered.
One day, you and I won’t be here to sit in this stillness. We won’t get to hear the cicadas, feel the warmth on our skin, or watch the shadows stretch across the yard. And that’s exactly why God tells us to slow down. To be still.
This world is loud. Unbearably loud at times. But God’s whisper is in the silence.
Not in the rush.
Not in the chaos.
Not even in the doing.
But in the being.
Take time today to sit quietly. No talking. No planning. Just sit and feel the peace of His creation. Meditate not with your mind, but with your spirit. Let the stillness remind you that life is a gift, and every warm summer night is a little taste of His glory.
Someday He will call us home. But until then, let’s not miss the sacred beauty of the still moments He gives us.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
