Sometimes Letting Go Is How We Get Them Back

Scripture:

“Adonai is close to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:19 (CJB)

Reflection:

Sometimes loving someone means holding them close.

And sometimes loving someone means loosening your grip.

There are seasons when the person standing in front of you is not the person you know they were created to be. Pain, addiction, pride, anger, or poor choices can cloud who they truly are.

And in those moments, we face a painful truth:

We cannot rescue someone by holding tighter.

Letting go does not mean you stop loving them.

It does not mean you stop praying.

It does not mean you give up hope.

It means you release control.

It means you stop trying to manage what only God can restore.

You are not letting go of the person you love.

You are letting go of the version that is destroying them.

Sometimes the only way someone can find rock bottom… is if we stop cushioning the fall.

And sometimes the most loving thing you can do is step back so God can step in.

Encouragement:

If you are watching someone drift… spiral… or become someone you barely recognize, don’t confuse surrender with abandonment.

Surrender says,

“God, I trust You with what I cannot fix.”

Keep loving.

Keep praying.

But release the illusion that you are their savior.

You are not called to be their Messiah.

You are called to trust the One who already is.

Sometimes letting go is not losing them.

Sometimes letting go is how God gives them back.
