Sometimes the Hardest Help Is Stepping Back
Scripture:
“Adonai sustains all who fall and lifts up all who are bent down.”
— Psalm 145:14 (CJB)
Reflection:
There are seasons when the hardest thing you can do for someone is to stop doing everything for them. You can love them, support them, and pray for them — but if they refuse to take the steps needed to change their own life, your help becomes their crutch.
Even God, in His perfect love, sometimes lets us fall. He allows us to reach the end of ourselves so we finally turn to Him. Hitting rock bottom isn’t cruelty — it’s mercy that redirects the heart back to the One who can truly save, heal, and restore.
Letting go isn’t quitting on someone. It’s refusing to replace what only God can do.
Encouragement:
If you’re feeling the weight of stepping back, remember this: you’re not abandoning them. You’re trusting Adonai to do the work your hands were never meant to carry. Stand firm in prayer, stay rooted in love, and let God finish what He started.
