Standing in the Rain

An umbrella doesn’t stop the rain—it simply helps us stand in it.

This thought came to me after seeing a post from my brother in Christ, Robbie. It reminded me of something powerful: faith in God doesn’t always remove the storms of life, but it gives us the strength to endure them.

But God didn’t design us to walk through those storms alone. In Genesis, He said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” (Genesis 2:18) He created woman—not just for companionship, but to establish the foundation of fellowship and relationship. From that union, the world would be filled with life and community.

That principle still stands today. Man was not meant to be alone. We are called into fellowship—with Christ and with one another. When life’s storms come, when the thunder roars and the winds of hardship shake us, God often uses our brothers and sisters in Christ as umbrellas to help us stand. They shield us in prayer, lift us in encouragement, and remind us of His promises when we forget them ourselves.

The umbrella is a tool for the rain.
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are tools for the journey.
But faith—faith is the anchor that holds us through it all.

As James wrote:

“Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials; for you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.”
James 1:2–3 (CJB)

Think back to some of the storms you’ve already survived—times you thought you’d never make it through. You did. And not only did you make it, but you came out stronger, wiser, and more anchored in Christ.

That’s the beauty of faith—it doesn’t remove the storm, it transforms you through it.

So today, when the rain begins to fall, remember this:
Your umbrella is your faith. Your fellowship is your covering. And your strength comes from Christ, who walks with you through every drop of rain.

“I can do all things through the Messiah who gives me the power.” — Philippians 4:13 (CJB)
