Thankfulness in Every Season
Today marks my 28th wedding anniversary, and as I reflect on thankfulness, I’m reminded of something my father used to say. He was a widower for 27 years, and when I would come to him about an argument with my wife, he would tell me: “Son, be thankful you have a wife to argue with.” Those words always put things in perspective.
There are so many things in life we take for granted, yet they can be gone in a flash. Even in our darkest moments, there is always something to be thankful for. We may not see it right away, but if we search for it, it’s there. Too often, people focus on “what I don’t have” instead of “look what God has blessed me with.”
So today, I dedicate this message to my wife, Lindsay. I am truly thankful for her love, her patience, and the 28 years she has walked with me, even when I know I wasn’t always easy to walk with. God has blessed me more than I deserve, and I am grateful.
“In everything give thanks, for this is what God wants from you who are united with the Messiah Yeshua.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (CJB)
