The story I shared the other day about my brother—who, in the middle of his own struggle, stopped to help a woman in distress—stirred a lot of hearts. She had dislocated her shoulder, and while others passed her by, he stepped in. That moment was a testimony of obedience.
But what came next was even more powerful:
That same brother called me and asked, “Will you come with me to the hospital? Let’s check on her. Let’s pray over her. Let’s show her love.”
That’s what I call the follow-through.
Too often, we treat compassion like a one-time act. We help someone in crisis, post about it, and move on. But Jesus didn’t just meet needs—He walked with people. He followed through. When the leper was healed, Jesus didn’t just say, “Go.” He said, “Show yourself to the priest” (Luke 17:14)—meaning restoration wasn’t complete without community and witness.
Sometimes the seed we plant needs more than water. It needs presence. It needs return. It needs love that goes the extra mile.
James 2:17 reminds us, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
So ask yourself today:
Am I willing to follow through?
Am I willing to go out of my way for someone I don’t even know?
Am I willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus when there’s no recognition, no spotlight—just quiet obedience?
Love doesn’t stop at the rescue. Love keeps showing up.
That’s what it looks like to walk like Christ.
