The Questions We Are Often Afraid to Ask

Scripture

“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”
— Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV)

One of the most beautiful things about a sincere search for God isn’t having all the answers—it’s having the courage to ask the questions.

“How do I know if I’m saved?”
“What does it really mean to be born again?”
“Can I come to God just as I am?”
“Do I need to go to church first?”
“How do I even talk to God?”

If we’re honest, these aren’t just one person’s questions. They are the questions of humanity.

So many people carry these thoughts quietly in their hearts. Some are afraid to ask because they think everyone else already knows the answers. Others believe they’ve made too many mistakes or have wandered too far for God to want them. Still others simply don’t know where to begin.

The beautiful truth is that God has never been afraid of honest questions.

Nicodemus came to Jesus asking what it meant to be born again. The woman at the well wondered if someone with her past could truly be accepted. Thomas wrestled with doubt. A desperate father cried out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Jesus never pushed them away because they asked questions. He met them with grace, truth, and love.

Faith isn’t pretending to have everything figured out. Faith is taking the next step toward the One who does.

The gospel isn’t an invitation for people who have their lives together. It’s an invitation for people who recognize they need a Savior. Jesus doesn’t ask us to clean ourselves up before coming to Him. He simply says, “Come.” We come as we are, and He begins the work of transforming us from the inside out.

Maybe today you’re carrying some of these same questions. Don’t let fear, pride, or uncertainty keep you from seeking God. Your questions are not evidence that God is far away. They may actually be evidence that He is drawing you closer.

Be encouraged today. Sometimes the first sign that God is working in someone’s life isn’t certainty—it’s curiosity. The journey of faith often begins with one honest question and a Savior who is always ready to answer.

Prayer

Father God, thank You for inviting us to come to You just as we are. Help us never to be afraid to ask honest questions or to seek You with all our hearts. Remove any fear, pride, or shame that keeps us from drawing near to You. Give us the faith to trust that You will meet us where we are and lead us into the truth. Draw those who are searching closer to You today, and let them experience Your love, grace, and salvation through Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
