Thought of The Day >

The Setup & The Way Out

July 22, 2025, 12:20 PM

I sat all morning asking, “Lord, what’s today’s thought?” And nothing came. I didn’t want to force it—I’ve learned to let it come from Him. And just like that, my brother from the Men’s Alliance Waymaker Tribe—Joshua "Pitbull" Carbone—asks me to call him and then ays, “Hey, got a second?” What came next was exactly what I needed.

See, I had challenged him recently to send me a Thought of the Day—not because they have to come from me, but because God speaks through all of us and I wanted him to see that. Today, God used his story to speak to both of us, and now hopefully to you.

This morning, some guys were giving him a hard time—hiding his keys, pushing buttons, stirring up a little anger. So there he is, mowing a wide open field, nothing around but some construction sites and a porta potty way off in the distance. And right as he’s mowing along a fence line… there it is—pornographic material, just lying there, like a trap.

And let’s be real: this brother has wrestled before with the same battles many men do—lust, anger, addiction. And the enemy knows that. He waits for that crack in the armor.

But my brother didn’t fall. Hallelujah he didn't fall!

Instead, he paused. He looked around. And he recognized what this was—a setup. The enemy will use your anger, your stress, your past failures, and bait you with something that once had a grip on you.

But here’s the good news:

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”1 Corinthians 10:13

The way out?

  •  The love of Christ that lives in him.
  • The identity he now knows—he’s not that old man.
  • The discernment to see the trap for what it was.

He rebuked the enemy, tossed that filth, gave God the praise, and moved on.

Let me remind you today: Satan will always look for opportune moments—but God will always provide a way out. You just have to know who you are and whose you are.

Pitbull could’ve fallen—but he stood. And that, my friends, is victory in Christ.

Stay armored up today. Eyes open. Spirit strong.

Temptation is real—but so is our God.

Man what a powerful testimony of Gods ability to change our hearts, minds and attitudes. Congratulations to Pitbull on claiming victory in Jesus in this situation!
