Trusting God Like a Tesla

Trusting God Like a Tesla

Yesterday my brother in Christ, Ben, gave me a ride to pick up my camper. It was my first time riding in his Tesla. To my surprise, I noticed his hands weren’t on the wheel and his feet weren’t on the pedals. “Is this car driving itself?” I asked. He smiled and said, “Sure is.”

At first, I was amazed—but also uneasy. Every stoplight, every turn, every brake, I was on edge. Yet Ben sat calm, fully trusting the design and engineering of people he had never met. He explained that millions of hours went into the details of safety, technology, and precision so the car could carry him securely.

That moment hit me. If we can put that much faith in a machine—built by people we don’t even know—why is it so hard for us to let go and trust God, the very One who created us? We trust strangers to build bridges we drive across every day without thinking they’ll collapse. We trust engineers to build cars and airplanes that we step into without hesitation. Yet when it comes to our own lives, our futures, our burdens, we grip the wheel and hesitate to let God steer.

Scripture reminds us: “Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him; then he will level your paths.” (Mishlei/Proverbs 3:5–6, CJB)

If we can trust man’s creation to guide us safely, how much more can we trust the Creator of the universe, who knows every detail of our lives? The question today is simple: are you still white-knuckling the wheel of your life, or are you ready to let go and let God steer?
