What if God only poured into you what you poured into Him?
Scripture:
“We love now because he loved us first.” — 1 John 4:19 (CJB)
Reflection:
Take a moment and truly sit with that question. If the depth of God’s presence in your life mirrored the depth of your pursuit of Him, what would that look like?
Would your days feel full… or empty?
Would your heart feel anchored… or wandering?
The truth is, God does not operate on a transactional relationship. His love is not measured out based on our effort. He gives freely, abundantly, and faithfully—far beyond what we deserve or return. Yet, while His love is unconditional, our experience of that love often depends on whether we receive it, walk in it, and respond to it.
So many times, we fall short—not because God has withheld anything—but because we have not leaned in. We haven’t slowed down to thank Him, to worship Him, to seek Him, to truly dwell in His presence.
If God matched our effort, many of us would find ourselves running on empty. But praise God—that’s not who He is.
Still, this question reveals something important: not about His faithfulness, but about our response.
Encouragement:
Today is an opportunity—not out of obligation, but out of love—to draw closer. Give Him more of your attention, more of your gratitude, more of your heart. Not to earn anything, but because He has already given you everything.
Cherish the gift of His love. Don’t just acknowledge it—live in it. Walk in it. Respond to it.
When we begin to pour into Him—not out of duty, but devotion—we start to experience His presence in a deeper, more powerful way.
