What Is Your Jonah?

What Is Your Jonah?

In Jonah’s story, we often focus on the fish—but let’s pause at the storm.

Jonah ran from God’s call, boarded a ship, and the seas raged until the sailors discovered he was the reason. When they threw Jonah overboard, the storm calmed.

Now ask yourself: What is your Jonah?

What storm in your life is being fueled by something you’re carrying that God never asked you to keep?

It could be an unhealthy relationship, an idol, an addiction, pride, greed, or fear. Sometimes the storm isn’t because of what’s happening to us but because of what we refuse to let go of.

Take inventory of your cargo. Identify your Jonah. Toss it overboard. When you do, you’ll see that God has the power to calm the seas in your life.

“For You, Adonai, have rescued me from the raging sea.” (Jonah 2, paraphrased)
