You Are Not, Because Christ Is

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.’” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (CSB)

You are not, because Christ is.

That may sound strange at first, especially in a world constantly telling us, “You are enough. You are strong. You can do anything.”

But the truth is—I’m not enough.

I’m not strong enough for everything life will bring.
I’m not wise enough to always know the right decision.
I’m not righteous enough to earn my way to God.
I’m not capable of carrying every burden on my own.

And I don’t have to be.

Because Christ is.

When I am weak, He is strong.
When I don't know the way, He is the Way.
When I am overwhelmed, He is my peace.
When I fall short, His grace is sufficient.
When I feel empty, He is my portion.
When I cannot carry the weight anymore, He carries me.

Maybe one of the greatest freedoms in following Jesus is finally realizing that God never asked me to be everything.

He asked me to trust the One who is.

We spend so much of our lives trying to prove that we're strong enough, good enough, smart enough, or capable enough. But sometimes admitting “I can't” isn't defeat.

Sometimes it's faith.

Because when I finally reach the end of myself, I can stop depending on my strength and start depending on His.

I am not enough on my own.

But Christ is.

And because I belong to Him, I don't have to be.
