My brother Adam sent me something this morning that hit deep. He reminded me that in physics, darkness isn’t actually a real thing. You can’t make darkness—you can only remove light. Darkness is simply the absence of light.
And man, that made me think. Not just about faith—but about us. Adam is my blood brother, and like many brothers, we’ve had our share of struggles. Moments where it felt like the light between us flickered. But truth is, neither one of us ever truly turned our back on the other. There was always a light. Even when it seemed dim or distant, it never went out.
Some might’ve looked at our relationship at times and said there was darkness there. But I look back now and see it was never darkness—just places where light needed to break through. And it did. It took an explosion of sorts—our father’s passing—to punch a hole in that space and flood it with light.
That painful moment made us see again. It reminded us of what matters. Of how short time is. Of how easy it is to walk around in shadow and not even know it. But the light was always there—we just had to open our eyes to it.
So here’s the word for someone today:
Don’t wait for an explosive moment—loss, tragedy, rock-bottom—to reveal what’s already shining around you.
Look for the light.
Open your eyes.
Open your heart.
Cry out to Him.
Don’t let the shadows fool you. They’re not real—not where Jesus is.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:5
“God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.” – 1 John 1:5
“You are the light of the world… let your light shine.” – Matthew 5:14-16
