Your Testimony Is How, Christ’s Love Is Why

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
— Revelation 12:11 (NKJV)

Every believer has a testimony. Some are filled with dramatic moments of deliverance, while others are stories of quiet transformation. Some involve overcoming addiction, brokenness, pain, or loss. Others are stories of growing up knowing Christ and learning to walk faithfully with Him.

But regardless of what your testimony looks like, there is one thing every testimony has in common: Jesus Christ is the reason behind it.

Sometimes we get so caught up in telling people what God delivered us from that we forget to tell them why He delivered us in the first place.

It wasn’t because we deserved it. It wasn’t because we earned it. It wasn’t because we finally got our lives together.

It was because He loved us.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) reminds us:

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Think about that. Christ didn’t wait for you to become worthy of His love. He loved you while you were still lost, still struggling, and still making mistakes.

Your testimony is the story of how His love changed your life, but His love is the reason that transformation was possible.

And here is something we must never forget: Your testimony is not meant to glorify your past. It is meant to glorify the One who redeemed you from it.

When we share our testimony, the goal shouldn’t be for someone to walk away amazed at what we’ve survived. The goal should be for them to walk away amazed at the Savior who brought us through it.

Your testimony may open the door to someone’s heart, but it is the love of Christ that has the power to transform it.

So share your story. Tell people where you’ve been, what you’ve walked through, and how God has changed your life. But don’t stop there.

Make sure they know WHY.

Because at the end of the day, your testimony isn’t really about you.

It’s about Him.

Your testimony is HOW people see what Christ has done. His love is WHY He did it.
